A Story That Shows Our Heart

In 2012, we met a young man who had fled his home country after facing threats to his safety and freedom. Like many refugees, he arrived in the UK with fear, uncertainty, and very little understanding of where to turn. He had lost his sense of security, was separated from his family, and carried the heavy burden of starting over in a new land. His story was one of courage, but also of deep struggle—the kind that so many people in his situation face when seeking protection.

When he reached out to us, we stepped in to walk beside him through every step of his journey. We helped translate his papers, explained his story in a way that could be understood, and made sure his voice was heard when it mattered most. With our support, he was given the chance to remain in the UK, free from fear of being sent back. Today, he is living a safe and happy life with his family, rebuilding his future with dignity and hope. Seeing him smile again with his loved ones reminds us why we do this work—because everyone deserves the chance to live without fear and to dream of a brighter tomorrow.

We work from the Pars Community Action. It’s a welcoming space where people from many countries come to get help. It’s also where we hold our group sessions, classes and events.
